Homa Delvaray

Overview

Homa Delvaray (b. 1980, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian graphic designer and visual artist living and working in Tehran. Since earning a degree in Visual Communication from the University of Tehran (2006), she has extended her work across a variety of mediums, from installation to sculpture, textile art to artist book. Her work has appeared in more than 100 national and international exhibitions and festivals, and has been honored with many awards, including Distinction of Visual Communication Design, Taipei International Design Award, Taiwan (2005); Jury prize of Trnava Poster Triennial, Trnava, Slovakia (2009). Some of her works are part of private and permanent collections such as the State Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg, Russia; Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York, USA; Wilson Library, North Carolina; Musee Des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, France; Poster Museum in Wilanów, National Museum, Warsaw. She has been a jury member for many competitions and festivals, including Golden Bee 13, Moscow Global Biennale of Graphic Design, Moscow, Russia (2018); “Turn A Light On”(Escucha mi Voz), International Poster Contest, Guadalajara, Mexico (2018); Ecuador Poster Biennial, Ecuador (2016); Poster Competition of "Poster for tomorrow", Work Right!, Paris, France (2014); Poster Competition of "Poster for tomorrow", Right to Education, Paris, France (2011). Homa Delvaray has been interviewed and her work has been the subject of articles in numerous publications. Major group exhibitions include "Soft Edge of the Blade," Frieze Cork St., London (2021); "Alternating Currents," Parallel Circuit, Tehran (2021); "Beauty", Cooper Hewitt Invitational Design Triennial, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York (2017).

Biography

Homa Delvaray, is an Iranian graphic designer and visual artist, lives and works in Tehran. Since earning a degree in Visual Communication from Tehran University in 2006, by focusing on cultural-artistic projects, such as: Posters, Book Design, Visual Identity and more, she has developed her vocational activity to projects for Iranian arts and culture organizations as well as for overseas clients Such as: V&A Museum (London), mpT magazine (London), It's Nice That and Dropbox (London), The British Council (London), Bagri Foundation (London), Barbican Centre (London), Die Gestalten (Berlin), eps51 Studio (Berlin), NGBK; Society for Fine Arts Berlin), Penguin Publication (New York), Mermaid Palace (New York), Ogilvy & Mather International Agency (Los Angeles), Stanford University (San Francisco), and more.

Her works have been displayed more than 100 national and international exhibitions and festivals, and have received many national and international design awards:Distinction of Visual Communication Design, Taipei International Design Award, Taiwan, 2015/Jury prize of Trnava Poster Triennial, Trnava, Slovakia, 2009.

Homa had her first overseas solo exhibition with title of "Overgrowing" in Onondaga Community College, Syracuse, New York (2014), an exhibition with title of "Printed Commons, Graphic activism"(along with Malte Martin and Tom Henni), ESA Saint-Luc, Liège, Belgium (2015). In recent years she has developed her activity to variety of fine Arts such as;  Artist Books, Installation, Sculpture, textile arts, etc and she had her first solo exhibition"Haft Peykar"; Sculptural Installation  Exhibition in Tehran, Iran (2018).

She has given speeches on her own works in Iran and abroad: ESA Saint-Luc, Liège, Belgium, 2015/ LAU, Beirut, Lebanon, 2014
